MINUTES - D.R.Y.L. Meeting hosted by Bordentown Yacht Club
June 3, 2008
OPENING: Meeting called to order @ 8:10pm. Prior to the flag salute, Bill Garwood reminded everyone that this Friday marks the 64th anniversary of D-Day and we should all remember men and women who gave their lives for the freedom we share today. Juice introduced and thanked Commodore Bill Ulrich who welcomed the DRYL and thanked everyone for coming. Commodore Ulrich extended an invitation to all DRYL members to visit and enjoy their club. He also thanked those who helped prepare this evenings meal.

OFFICERS & COMMITTEE REPORTS
President: President Jusino mentioned it was good to be out of the hospital after a 6-day stay. He had trouble with his leg. Juice thanked delegates and members for the letters and support on the senate bill - Clean Boating Act of 2008. The bill was unanimously voted on and pushed right through to the floor. Its going in a positive direction, and we should be hearing something real soon. Thanked clubs for hospitality on opening days and sorry for the ones that he was unable to attend. Gave thanks to John Maloney and Toni Nespola for spearheading the Safe Boating Day at Penns Landing. Also thanks to 2nd Vice President, Butch Gricco, for escorting the Queen to the CBYCA pageant. Mentioned that the DRYL uniform patches were delivered and are very nice. Patches will be distributed after the meeting and the extras will be sold (price to be determined). New t-shirts are in see Doc. Burgees are in see Mike Kovacs. Thanked Dan Cefalone for visiting him in the hospital and bringing a giant hoagie.
1st Vice President: John Maloney John and Toni at Safe Boating Day held at Penns Landing along with princesses from Bristol, Delaware River Rats, Pennsylvania and Westville. Princesses did face painting for the children. Nice time had by all. Lunch was provided. Many demonstrations in the water. John distributed DRYL Yearbooks.
2nd Vice President: Butch Gricco no report.
3rd Vice President: Steve Zielinski Steve introduced Peggy Zielinski who gave report on the CBYCA pageant. Seven princesses from DRYL attended CBYCA pageant. New Queen is Renee from Baltimore YC.
Secretary: Rick Patton no report.
Audit & Budget: Bill Branchide Gave report and reviewed results of the audit. Copies were made available to delegates.
Banquet: Mary Jusino no report.
Cruise: Bob Grace 3 openings left. Applications are available. Itinerary reviewed. Bohemia Bay stop was changed to Whartons Creek. Bob & Marys log from winter cruise is on website.
Donations no report.
Fleet Surgeon: Harry Borgersen
Told story about incident that took place while on vacation. Seems that Bonnie had symptoms of gallstones,
which led to her having an operation today, which leads to the discussion today
on gall bladder disease. Gall bladder
disease used to be associated with fair, fat, fertile or feminine. Although,
today, the disease attacks anyone, even young women. Doc suggests that you do not ignore the
symptoms. Seek treatment from your
doctor. Doc went on to say that the new
shirts are here and are for sale.
Pageant: Toni Nespola Thanked the girls who attended Safe Boating Day at Penns Landing and did face painting for the kids. Toni acknowledged princesses in attendance as well as Melanie Horahan, past Bordentown princess, who now serves as Rear Commodore. Toni also thanked the princesses who attended the CBYCA pageant. The first princess meeting was May 18 and all went well. Toni reviewed the upcoming meeting schedule for princesses. Program book ads deadline is June 9th. Contact Linda Pyffer. Pageant will be August 9th at the Seaport Museum. Theme will be Philadelphia Sports Team Pride. All forms for docking, buttons, etc. are on the website. Pageant day agenda will be given out at the next meeting.
Picnic: Joe Gricco no report.
Public Affairs: Bill Garwood Continued efforts to bring senators on board for Senate Bill 2766 have been successful. Juice added Casey and Spector are on board. Still working on Menedez.
Regatta: Fred Saunders no report. Full report on Poker Run next month.
Safe Boating: Frank Gilbert Frank handed out reprinted article from Soundings that describes the overhaul of Ego Alley in Annapolis.
Shoreline Planning: Joe Campbell no report.
Webmaster: Paul Jusino/Ben Lewitt no report.
Yearbook: Denise Leo Yearbooks are here and were distributed. Income from the yearbooks was $12,320. $2000 in ads is still uncollected.
Boater Voter: Joe Campbell no report.
CBYCA: Bob Williams no report.
National Boating Federation (NBF): Bob Williams no report.
NJ Legislation: John Honer On May 22nd NJ State Assembly passed Bill 1157 (38 to nothing) which prohibits jet skis from being within 200 feet of the shoreline, residences, persons or aides to navigation. It will now go the NJ State Assembly for processing. If it passes, it will go to the governor for signature. No action on other pending bills.
Pennsylvania Boating Association - SE (PBA): Bob Garwood Mentioned being at Safe Boating Day at Penns Landing and reviewed events that took place. Lots of food and beverage and many events taking place. Event was well represented by many boating organizations.

Checkbook opening balance $22,212.36. Mike Kovacs reported income of $520 while Phyllis Blackeby reported disbursements of $3,957.81 resulting in a checkbook closing balance of $18,774.55. A motion was made, seconded and approved to pay the bills.
